Based on Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol; 3 Ghosts celebrates what Dickens himself wrote as a preface to his story: “I have endeavoured in this Ghostly little book, to raise the Ghost of an Idea, which shall not put my readers out of humour with themselves, with each other, with the season, or with me. May it haunt their houses pleasantly, and no one wish to lay it.”

Taking his cue, the music, lyrics, and story do not shy away from the ghostly aspect and it does not attempt to change the original story at all. 3 Ghosts is filled with emotional peaks; from loneliness to happiness, anger to laugher, to despair, to romance, to fear, to sadness, and to hope. Even though it’s a musical thick with original Dickens’s quotes, as you watch it you feel it’s the first time you’ve heard the story.

3 Ghosts made its NYC premiere at Theatre Row, December 2011.
